I hate to do this, being a former media man myself. But the
inquirer.net story quoting Indonesian President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo as
allegedly having said that President Duterte has okayed the execution of Mary
Jane Veloso is TOTALLY UNFAIR, ILLOGICAL AND INHUMAN!.
UNFAIR because media ethics require that BOTH SIDES SHOULD BE
INCLUDED IN ANY STORY before it comes out. If the other side could not be
obtained until deadline, efforts to secure it must be indicated like whom did
the media company call, what time and what was the reply. The inquirer.net story
ONLY HAD THE SUPPOSED WIDODO statement. IT DID NOT HAVE Malacnanang\s clarification
that what Duterte told Widodo was ‘follow your own laws.’ There was NO EXPLANATION why/ They came out
with Malacanang’s clarification in a SEPARATE story.
Nothing could be more INHUMAN, both to Digong and to the Velosos. Neither
can I imagine and I will not speculate) why a story as sensitive but ILLOGICAL
as this must come out ONE-SIDED. Why
ILLOGICAL? Digong IS NOT the president
of Indonesia. Neither Is Indonesia under
the Philippines. So Widodo DOES NOT NEED Duterte’s go-signal for anything. And
Digong is SURELY FULLY AWARE of this. MOST OF ALL, Foreign Affairs Sec. Perfecto
Yasay had earlier reported that Veloso has been INDEFINITELY taken out of death
row. So it’s nothing less than an INSULT
TO BOTH LOGIC AND COMMON SENSE to think that Digong would okay the execution of
Mary Jane.
Kaya habang luimilipas ang panahon, bumababa ang tingin ng
taumbayan sa mga taga-media. 30
First and foremost, a question to be answered; Who bring those drugs to Indonesia? Second question: Is she a documented OFW to Indonesia? Third question: Why should the government be blamed for her fate? No valid alibi could cover up her case. She violated the law of that country, that is clear.
