House
of Representatives deliberations on the proposed Bangsamoro Basic Law MUST BE
STOPPED, INDEFINITELY. It should only be resumed after a FULL-BLOWN
INVESTIGATION into reports that a suspected Chinese crime lord had financed
supposed bribe money for the measure’s approval in the committee level is
conducted and the TRUTH has been established WITHOUT A DOUBT.
Mere,
and EXPECTED, denials of PNoy’s allies who had voted In favor of the BBL ARE NOT,
AND SHOULD NEVER BE, ENOUGH. The details of, and the circumstances behind, the
alleged payola are TOO SUSPICIOUS AND LOGICAL to ignore. Judge for yourself,
boys and girls:
A
story in manilastandardtoday.com quoted NO LESS than the treasurer of PNoy’s
Liberal Party (LP), Oriental Mindoro Gov. Alfonso Umali, admitted that a deal
was indeed made by Immigration Commissioner Siegfred Mison with the alleged BBL
payola financier and Chinese crime lord Bo Wang. Even if Umali did not categorically
say that the supposed agreement was for BBL payola, the mere act of a government
official forging an agreement with a suspected international crime lord IMMEDIATELY
WARRANTS A PROBE.
An
order for Bo’s release from BID detention was issued on May 21, just days after
Deputy Immigration Commissioners Abdullah Mangotara and Gilberto Repizo met
with the suspected crime lord’s representative and reportedly revealed they
were raising funds for the passage of the BBL in Congress. The release order was
issued despite the fact that Bo had used a cancelled passport in coming to the
country and the Chinese Embassy had requested for his deportation to Chine to
face criminal charges there. Four days later, on the night of May 25, a
truckload of money was reportedly delivered to the House of Representatives.
Bags of cash were allegedly unloaded at the back entrance of the House main
building and taken to the office of Speaker Sonny Belmonte.
No
recordings were found on the CCTV cameras installed on the back entrance and
the hallways and corridors leading to Belmonte’s office but SURPRISINGLY, the
Speaker and House security personnel operating the CCTV cameras had DIFFERENT
REASONS for this. The security guys said they ran out of storage for the real
time recordings. But Belmonte said the CCTV cameras were already defective on
the day he assumed office. And House officials who asked not to be named
claimed that under the contract with the CCTV camera suppliers, real-time
recordings must not be erased within six months.
If
PNoy’s congressmen allies indeed have nothing to hide, then there’s no sensible
reason for them to block an investigation at once. The Bo expose has cast
doubts on their integrity and reputation. Any person will always grab the first
opportunity to prove his or her innocence of any accusation. So it will be a
golden opportunity for them to prove that they’re clean of ‘dirty’ money and
put the issue to rest immediately. More importantly, a probe would give them
the chance to identify the character assassin behind the ‘payola’ story. And Malacanang
SHOULD NOT INTERFERE, OR EVEN COMMENT, on having a probe and deferring the
deliberations on the BBL
If
anybody blocks an investigation into the Bo expose, that person’s bank deposits
or withdrawals before or on May should be looked into WITHOUT DELAY.30
