RESIDENCY NOT THE ONLY REQUIREMENT, GRACE!

Responding to questions on her residency in the country, Sen. Grace Poe has categorically claimed that she is qualified to run for a higher position in next year’s polls contrary to claims by members of the Opposition. But other than the residency, Poe DID NOT CITE ANY OTHER QUALIFICIATION SHE HAS to be our next president or vice-president.
Now, we all know that the presidency or the vice presidency is NOT, and SHOULD NEVER BE, simply a matter of POPULARITY.  So as I had suggested in an earlier Facebook post, can the senator’s office or any of her supports please COME OUT with whatever CREDENTIALS Poe has to even be considered as president or vice president?

Anybody please detail, now, what is Poe’s expertise or level of competence in, among others, economics, law and order, foreign policy, jobs generation, education and poverty alleviation. It would also be interesting to know if Poe has had any program, or has filed any bill, to fight illegal drugs, high prices of fuel and basic commodities and graft and corruption. Has she had any program or project, past or current which has helped uplift the quality of life of people anywhere or a particular sector of society?

I agree with Poe that the country needs honest leaders. But honesty would be useless without competence. Honesty alone is not enough for good and effective governance and prosperity. An honest leader will be easily deceived by the corrupt if he or she does not have sufficient knowledge and background or experience ion key national issues. The president would be a puppet, a ‘yes man. Under that system, there is no guarantee that governance will be for the greater majority and not for the vested interests of the few.

If Sen. Poe does not have, or could not show proof, of reasonable background in any national concern, then here’s hoping she has a rock-solid and convincing argument on why should we even consider her for vice-president or president next year. Otherwise, her image builders and media handlers had better advise her to shut up, lest she be looked down on as a narrow-minded and ego-tripping senator.

Somebody had better remind her that the people have learned their bitter lesson from incompetent presidents  like PNoy and his mother,  Cory. 30
