The
Malacanang-baclked version of the proposed Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL) SHOULD
NOT BE PASSED by the House of Representatives.
A
story in manilastandardtoday.com said congressmen, who asked not to be named,
have complained of coercion or threats from Malacanang if they won’t vote for
the approval of the BBL. And when one resorts to threats to forcibly get
something, that object is either IMMORAL OR ILLEGAL, OR BOTH! For PNoy fanatics who will counter that
UNNAMED congressmen were quoted in the story, manilastandardtoday would not
come out with the expose if they did not have ENOUGH PROOF. If there’s anything
media companies hate to high heavens, it’s a libel case. I know what I’m
saying, guys. I am a former senior editor of a nationally-circulated group of
newspapers. And as of this hour -- 3:16 p,m. June 6, 2015 - Malacanang HAS NOT EFFECTIVELY DENIED the
standard story.
Here’s
an example of the threat: A close ally
of PNoy from Mindanao said he was told “that
if I don’t vote for the BBL, I might find my wife, a local official, fighting a
case in the Ombudsman.” Leyte Rep. Ferdinand Martin Romualdez that the
Commission on Audit has threatened some 180 congressmen with notices of
disallowances for their projects.
The
standard story follows reports of dwindling support to the BBL in the House of Representatives.
During Thursday’s session, the number of congressmen in the hall dropped to
fewer than 40 as the proceedings went on. Repeated quorum bells falled to
persuade congressmen to return to their seats. House Majority Leader Neptali
Gonzales II confirmed that most of the congressmen who want to ask questions
about the BBL were PNoy allies.
Let’s
not also forget, boys and girls, that just days ago an expose claimed that P440
million from a suspected and detained Chinese crime lord was allegedly
delivered to the House of Representatives to bribe congressmen into approving
the BBL.
