LEAVE THE PRIESTHOOD, SOC VILLEGAS!
Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) president Soc Villegas had better GET OUT of the priesthood. IMMEDIATELY! With his declaration of support and blessing for today’s protest rallies against the burial of former President Ferdinand Marcos (FM)( at the Libingan ng mga Bayani (LNMB), he has CEASED to be a man of the CHURCH, a servant of the Flock. Short of having been elected, he’s now a POLITICIAN.
Instead of advocating unity and forgiveness as a man of his position would normally call for, Villegas is working for CONTINUED DISCORD and wanton DISREGARD of both the LAW and the separation of powers of the Church and State. n a story in abs-cbnnews.com, Villegas justified his endorsement of the protest actions by saying: "Kung sa inyong paninindigan, ang makisali sa mga rally ay kinakailangan at sa tingin ninyo ay bahagi ng ating tungkuling Kristiyano, kayo ay malugod kong hinihimok na dumalo dala ang aking basbas."
Priests are supposed to be PEACEKEEPERS, not MAINTAINERS of disregard of the law. You know that, Mr. Villegas. Your DUTY is to spread God’s words of FORGIVENESS, UNITY AND LOVE. NOT YOUR OWN WOIRDS! If you no longer have the GUTS or the WILL to UNCONDITIONALLY STICK to the teachings of the Almighty, then have the civility to spare us Catholics from your double-edged rhetoric. 30
