Manila Water should IMMEDIATELY REFUND, UNCONDITIONALLY,
its consumers for the ADVANCED fees it had collected for its Cardona water treatment plant.
The company, along with the Metropolitan
Waterworks and Sewerage Systems (MWSS), must also STOP its MULTI-BILLION
HIGHWAY ROBBERY of its consumers WITHOUT question.
It’s nothing less than pure greed for Manila
Water to charge its consumers for something that they were not yet using or
availing of.
News reports say the advanced Cardona charges
started in 2015. That’s more than three years ago. MWSS officials now say the Cardona plant has begun operating, but ONLY LAST WEEK. With 1.2 million households
affected by the water crisis, it would be very safe to say we’re talking of
multi-billions here.
MWSS should be directed to justify why it
allowed the advanced Cardona charges in the concession agreement with Manila
Water, to the gross and immoral disadvantage of the consumers.
This injustice and unwarranted suffering of
the consumers must end, now. Criminal and civil charges are in order. 30
