If Cebu Gov. Gwen Garcia loses in her fight over
her questionable suspension, expect more Opposition members to suffer the same
fate.
And if that happens, we had better ERASE DEMOCRACY
from our vocabularies and just retain DICTATORSHIP or any other similar political
terminology.
For
that is the REAL issue in the Garcia case.
Garcia says her suspension is in violation of
the Local Government Code and Administrative Order No.23, which both provide a
30-day deadline for the Office of the President (OP) to render a decision on
her case.
The OP took 400 plus days and more than100
days, respectively, under the Code and the Order.
But Malacanang is ARROGANTLY IGNORING this
issue by NOT EXPLAINING in any manner whatsoever. NOT A SINGLE WORD on what
makes it legal despite their non-compliance to the deadline.
Instead, they ABUSE what we call the
Reinforcement Theory in mass communications by ENDLESSLY REPEATING that Garcia should
accept her suspension because it was the Office of the President which had
ordered it.
Until the public mind is conditioned to
accepting it as righteous, regardless of its QUESTIONABLE LEGALITY.
I’m not prejudging the Garcia case. Let that be
for the record. If Malacanang can justify
its legality without brainwashing the people, I will be among the first to respect
it.
But until then, to blindly agree with Malacanang
is tantamount to DISREGARDING THE LAW.
If they get away with Gwen, they can DO IT TO
ANYBODY.
That includes YOU AND ME. The choice is ours.30
