PACQUIAO SHOULD SERIOUSLY CONSIDER RETIRING!

With his totally unexpected defeat, I sure hope Rep. Manny Pacquiao would seriously consider retiring from boxing.

I view his loss as a message from God that he should now stop boxing and begin focusing instead on more urgent and humanitarian concerns, like helping the poor and the needy outside the ring.

As a congressman, through the crafting of proposed laws that can help ease, if not eliminate, major problems of the country and projects that can help improve the quality of life of the people, like infrastructure.

And as a very rich and very influential businessman who is more than capable of sponsoring job-generation and other similar programs which can help address the immediate needs of the people like extra income.

Or approach his VIP friends for help in solving problems of the needy and the oppressed which are beyond his control or capacity to attend to.

There’s no question that Pacquiao is already a boxing legend.

Nobody can dispute the fact that he’s one of the best boxers that the Philippines has ever had, a national pride that will forever be enshrined in the annals of history.

But whether Pacquiao’s fanatics admit it or not, his hunger for world titles intensified as he won one championship after another. Until his stunning knockout loss, he already had eight world titles.

A lot, lot more than any boxer would probably even dream of.

But in the process, his legislative duties and the welfare of his constituents SUFFERED WHENEVER HE SPENDS MONTHS on training for an upcoming fight.

Pacquiao’s victories brought world recognition to the country, correct.

But when he chose to be a congressman, the reality that his boxing prowess is NOT THE SOLUTION to the problems of his constituents automatically came with it.

That is what Pacquiao must concentrate on, NOW.

He doesn’t need to prove anything anymore when it comes to his boxing skills. No one in his right mind would question it.

But if he really wants to SERVE THE PEOPLE, AND GOD, MORE, his being a  congressman and billionaire-businessman are the best channels to do so.

And not the boxing ring, wherein the only MAJOR BENEFICIARIES are him, fight promoters and organizers, the venue, media and cable networks which air or broadcast his fights and bookies who take bets from his fans and those of his opponent. 30

  3. Agree with your analysis. Cong Manny Pacquiao should seriously consider on retiring because after all, he has already proven a lot. Besides, he almost got everything--power, fame and fortune beyond his wildest imagination. THe empire that he and his wife built is more than enough to make them live a comfortable life even that of his children's children. It's time that he should concentrate on serving his constituents too. Just saying.
