SOMETHING STINKS in the Department of Health (DoH).
The DoH has set aside more than P500 million in
its 2013 budget for contraceptives. But it only allotted a measly P31 million,
or LESS THAN 10 PERCENT of that, for natural family planning.
What makes this HIGHLY SUSPICIOUS? The
contraceptives the DOH wants to purchase are either CONSUMABLE or DISPOSABLE.
Check these out -- pills at P245.051 million;
injectables, P91.225 million; intra-uterine devices, P170.441 million; and
bilateral tubal ligation kits, P11.336 million.
Natural family planning, however, can be practiced for as long as the couple wants, like the rhythm method. If I remember correctly, NOTHING has to be PURCHASED REGULARLY.
And let’s not forget that it’s A LOT, if not totally, SAFER than
contraceptives. Again, anybody can
correct me if I’m wrong.
So WHY should the DoH spend MORE THAN 10 TIMES an amount on
TEMPORARY contraceptives than on alternatives which are safer and good for a
LIFETIME AT NO PERPETUAL COST if practiced by
couples?
Why won’t the DoH SPEND MORE on the promotion of natural family
panning?
Anybody who can think of a more logical but milder reason is
welcome to comment. But believe it or not, our worry SHOULD NOT END THERE, boys
and girls. There’s something else which is more SCARY.
WALANG HANGGANAN ang
pangongomisyon na ito pag nagkataon.
Paano?
