DON'T BE TOO OPTIMISTIC WITH PH-MILF PACT

Don’t be TOO OPTIMISTIC on propaganda by government officials that total and lasting peace will follow the signing tomorrow of a framework agreement between the Philippines and Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF)

There is still NO GUARANTEE that Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) head Nur Misuari will not carry out his threat of taking up arms again because his group was NOT CONSULTED on the framework agreement with the MILF.

Related to this, the Armed Forces has not yet issued a CATEGORICAL ASSURANCE that it can deal with Misuari SWIFTLY and DECISIVELY in case of renewed fighting.

There have been TWO BOMBINGS in the LAST THREE DAYS ALONE, one of which was in Cagayan de Oro City in Mindanao.

As expected, the authorities readily declared these were not in protest of the agreement with the MILF. But they HAVE NOT PRESENTED EVIDENCE to prove their conclusion.

So as I had asked in earlier blog, WHO MUST BE BLAMED OR HELD LIABLE if  fighting and violence escalate in Mindanao following the signing of the agreement?

Anybody correct me if I’m wrong but THERE ARE NO VERIFIED STATISTICS or STUDIES that the MILF commands the support, and obedience, of the majority of Mindanaoans.

Remember, the MILF was only a BREAKAWAY faction of the MNLF when Misuari and his boys signed a final peace agreement with then President Fidel Ramos in 1996.

So it’s NO BIG DEAL that Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and Organization of Islamic Cooperation (formerly Organization of Islamic Conference) secretary-general Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu will arrive to witness the signing of the agreement.

I’m not from Mindanao but from what I know, I will dare say that the presence of these two leaders DO NOT GUARANTEE automatic and 100 percent support of the greater number iof Mindanaoans  to the agreement,.

Neither does the declaration of support to the agreement by foreign governments. Unless they have INDISPUTABLE PROOF that their mere words are SACRED ENOUGH to be followed by Mindanaoans.

So Malacanang mouthpieces, and their supporters, had better STOP PORTRAYING the signing of the agreement as something like the best thing that could ever happen to efforts for peace in Mindanao.

Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Abigail Valte says the signing is “historic because it’s the first time that the MILF will ever be inside the Palace,” and that it would be “very symbolic of the unique and thus historic” result of their talks with the Aquino administration.

So what? The MILF is NOT THE FIRST Muslim group to step into Malacanang.

Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process Teresita Quintos-Deles said: “We now have a framework agreement that all Filipinos can be proud of.”
What is there to be proud of? And do you mean that the peace pact with the MNLF is not something to be proud of, Ms Deles?

Maguindanao Gov. Esmael Mangudadatu said the “agreement will bind both the government and the MILF to continue cooperating (with each other) in maintaining peace and order in Moro areas.”

What about the non-Moro areas, governor? Will there be peace, too, because of the agreement?

Welcome ang gustong mag-react. From all sides, puwede. 30
