There’s no more SANE REASON to trust Sen. Antonio
Trillanes IV.
Shortly after Trillanes declared to media that
there is a plan to oust Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile before the chamber adjourns
next month, 11 out of 16 senators present REJECTED a bid by Enrile himself to
vacate his position.
Initial reports said only three senators,
INCLUDING TRILLANES HIMSELF, voted for the ouster of Enrile.
This despite Trillanes’ claim that he and his
purported allies only need the votes of the four Liberal Party senators -- Franklin
Drilon, Francis Pangilinan, Ralph Recto, and Teofisto Guingona III -- to kick
Enrile out from the Senate presidency.
So unless Trillanes can name his purported allies
– that should be NINE senators since 13
votes were needed to oust Enrile and he said they only needed the four LP votes -- whom he had claimed were
ready for a change in the Senate leadership, it could only mean one thing:
Trillanes had LIED. If that’s the case, there’s
no MORAL JUSTIFICATION to continue trusting him as a senator.
I’m NOT trying to defend Enrile. I will never say
that he’s innocent of accusations of unethical action against him in connection
with the monies he had released to 22 senators last December.
I just want to remind everyone that a senator should
be a man of honor, honesty and integrity. These are among the top
qualifications we should look for when we decide who to retain and who to
remove from the Senate when we vote in the May elections.
And not who is the most talkative in media, who
has the most number of press releases or who has the sweetest smile and who is
the prettiest or handsomest
To those who will say that this latest, EMPTY boast
of Trillanes should not be a major gauge in measuring his trustworthiness,
consider these:
This is the SECOND TIME, as far as I can recall,
that Trillanes had attacked Enrile and failed to prove his claims, the first
being that the Senate President had helped the family of former President
Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo in the passage of a Senate bill favorable to the former
Chief Executive’s congressman-son Dato.
Do we have to wait for a third, fourth or fifth
time, even if the subject isn’t Enrile?
As to the ethics complaint filed by a
non-government agency against Enrile and 22 other senators, by all means let
the probe begin. 30
Wala nmang ginawa yan Trililing na yan sa Senado kundi magpapogi. Kapag pinatulan nman bahag ang buntot at magwo-walk out. Naturingang sundalo dati, wla nman "balls".
