HERE'S WHY GWEN WILL SUFFER GREATER IRREPARABLE INJURY!

I strongly disagree with the statement of Court of Appeals (CA) Associate Justice Vicente Veloso that the government would suffer greater "irreparable injury" if suspended Cebu Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia's petition for a Temporary Restraining Order against her suspension would be granted.

As Garcia’s lawyer had pointed out, it’s her reputation or character which has been damaged by her suspension. NOT THAT OF PNOY, or any other person in government.

The suspension portrayed Garcia as abusive.

But she has countered, among others, that her suspension HAD VIOLATED the Local Government Code and Administrative Order No. 23.  And the government has NOT SHOWN PROOF that it’s a wrong interpretation of the law.

So until the CA resolves the legal point raised by Gwen, it’s her ALONE who will be HELPLESSLY PICTURED before the public eye as abusive.

At tulad ng alam nating lahat, kapag NATANIM NA SA ISIPAN ang anumang bagay, HINDI NA ITO MABUBURA. Malimutan man ang galit o anumang damdamin na naging bunga nito, hindi  na naliolimutan ang bagay na iyon.

Kahit bilang alaala na lamang.

Tell me we all agree, ladies and gentlemen, that any sane individual WILL NEVER PUT A PRICE TAG on his or her reputation or character. Not even the back wages which Veloso so casually pointed out as being available to Garcia should she win her case.

The only damage the government will suffer with a TRO is the IMAGE OF INCOMPETENCE – issuing a suspension order on QUESTIONABLE GROUNDS.

Incompetence can be erased with a corrective action, especially if done immediately.

Negative public impression LASTS, especially if the accused is dealt with supposedly DISCIPLINARY ACTION FIRST and the legal questions he or she had raised are ignored or left hanging by the accuser.

So who suffers the more severe irreparable damage now?
