KANINO BA NATATAKOT SI BAUTISTA?

A top-caliber but forever low-profile lawyer/businessman whom I had just talked to brought up this very interesting issue:

“Dapat tanungin si former Comelec Chair Andres Bautista: KANINO KA BA TAKOT O ANO BA ANG KINAKATAKOT MO at ayaw mo nang bumalik ng Pilipinas? Wala ka namang kaso. Wala rin namang nababalitang death threat sa iyo. Kaya walang dahilan para magtago ka. Kriminal lamang ang nagtatago.

"Kung sasabihin ni Bautista na wala siyang kinakatakutan, may tinatago siya kung ganoon. That's the only possible reason left for somebody to hide."

With no case against him and his insistence on the fairness of the 2016 election, the lawyer agreed with me that the more should Bautista come home and clear the air once and for all.

“Ang sinumang tunay na inosente, agad na papatunayan na wala siyang ginawang masama at the very first opportunity. Pero kabaligtaran ang ginagawa ni Bautista, lalo pa at wala naman siyang kaso regarding the 2016 polls.

“Bautista knows this. He’s a lawyer. He’s even a former law school dean. He can readily defend himself against anything. Pero sa halip, para siyang daga na nagtatago sa pusa. Parang takot na takot siya, sa sarili niyang multo.”

If Bautista will continue hiding, the lawyer said cases must be filed against him already so that cancellation of the former Comelec boss’ passport could start.

 I replied: “I couldn’t agree more.”
