At least three senators have
expressed support for Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile, despite the call of Sen.
Antonio Trillanes for his ouster.
"I am satisfied [with
his performance]. I think he has done a very good job. I cannot do his job
especially during the impeachment. I think he has done a very good job
leading the Senate," Senator Ralph Recto, a Liberal Party member whose
name is being floated as one of those who may be pitted against Enrile, said in
an interview on Thursday.
Sen. Bongbong Marcos, who is being rumored to be
the Nacionalista Party's bet as Senate president, said ouster call "make[s]
no sense." Trillanes is a member of the NP.
"I don't see it happening because the only senator that made any indication about dissatisfaction with the leadership is Sen. Trillanes," he said.

Marcos likewise said that he
never lost confidence in Enrile
Both senators defended
Enrile against accusations that the Senate president was railroading the pasage
of the local bill seeking to divide Camarines Sur.
"I don't think the CamSur bill is being railroaded...sa pananaw ko wala ako nakikitang railroading," said Recto.

Sen. Gringo Honasan also
said that Enrile never pressured them to take a specific stand on a measure. "I have never seen him impose his will or bully
any senator," he said.
He added that he would never agree to any move to oust Enrile.###
