COMELEC, GARAPALANG PROTEKTOR NI ROBREDO!

In stories in http://manilastandard.net/news/national/271474/comelec-upholds-25-threshold.html and https://www.philstar.com/headlines/2018/07/26/1836985/comelec-backs-robredo-appeal-25-shadingthreshold-used-2016-polls, the Comelec sided with Robredo in asking for  25 percent as a ballot shading threshold instead of the 50 percent being used by the Presidential Electoral Tribunal (PET) in the recount of votes covered by Bongbong Marcos’ protest against her.

Instead of being IMPARTIAL in their comment to the PET, as MORALLY DICTAED by the following:

Under Section 4, Article VII of the Constitution, ONLY THE PET has “the sole authority to judge all contests” for vice-president. So, the Comelec has no jurisdiction over Bongbong’s protest.

The PET had set the ballot shading threshold at 50 percent AS EARLY AS 2010, or SIX YEARS before the 2016 pols. For the Comelec to SIDE WITH ROBREDO now in insisting on disregarding this in her favor is NOTHING LESS THAN SUSPICIOUS and shameless BIAS and PROTECTION. I’m not a lawyer but I will dare say that no law exempts Robredo from the SIX-YEAR-OLD 50 percent PET standard.

Robredo insisted that the Comelec had informed the PET in a letter that a 25 percent threshold would be used in the May 2016 elections. But the letter was dated sometime in September 2016, FOUR MONTHS AFTER THE ELECTIONS.  And that it was about the optical scan counting during the voting and NOT THE MANUAL COUNTING being done by the PET. Only the IDIOT AMONG IDIOTS will think and argue that optical scan and manual counting are the same or should have the same standards.

And in their UNDENIABLE DESPERATION to put LOGIC to their comment, the Comelec warned that “To use different standard would be erroneous and may result to unnecessary questions on the legitimacy of all elected officials, from the President down to the last Sangguniang Bayan member.”

ONLY THE VICE-PRESIDENCY IS AT STAKE in the shading threshold and recount of votes. NOTHING ELSE. To include other positions in the issue is both IDIOTIC and a BRAINLESS SCARE TACTIC that even children won’t be frightened of.
