Here’s a case of TRUTH prevailing at the
GSIS:
A group of Chinese investors approached the
GSIS several months ago to check out the possibility of purchasing some of its
idle properties for future business ventures. The query was referred to the
Trustee in charge of such matters, former Congressman Jonathan dela Cruz. To be
totally guided in his decision Dela Cruz asked for an opinion from the GSIS
legal department, and was given the go-signal.
But just days later, Dela Cruz learned that
no less than Malacanang has some questions on the transaction and wants further
and immediate clarification. It turned out that incorrect and incomplete
information had been sent to the Palace for reasons he was not informed of.
After explaining the transaction in detail,
both in writing and in person, Malacanang was enlightened and gave Dela Cruz a
clean bill. No action was taken against him. And he doesn’t have any ill
feelings either towards those behind the incomplete and incorrect info.
He describes the experience simply as a
‘communications gap.”
