As expected, Antonio Trillanes has vigorously
denied accusations by Davao City resident Guillermina Barrido that he had tried
to bribe or coerce her into claiming that President Digong Duterte himself is
involved in illegal drugs. So let me deal with this on CREDIBILITY AND LOGIC, two
points, my dear readers.
On CREDIBILITY: First, if Trillanes is
innocent as he claims: He should FILE LIBEL CHARGES IMMEDIATELY, as in at once,
against Barrido and whoever came out with her claims in media. It would be the fastest way to clear his
name, and not just the public apology he has threatened to demand. Second: He must PRESENT IN PUIBLIC the lawyer
and his staff member whom Barrido had named in her claims. Not just for no-holds barred questioning by
media but, better yet, for a public confrontation with Barrido with FULL MEDIA
COVERAGE.
Third: Trillanes should allow an independent
examination of the video recording he had presented in a press conference which
supposedly belies Barrido’s accusations. The FULL VIDEO RECORDING, and not just
the three-minute sample had had shown. Fourth: Trillanes should explain why his
people met Barrido outside instead of in his office.
On
LOGIC: Trillanes said according to
Barrido, |nakita daw niya sa may
pier
na may cargo shipment daw. Tapos si Duterte daw mismo ang nag-check
ng cocaine. Tinikman daw.”
First: I’m not
an anti-narcotics agent but I will dare say that unless one is a drug lord or
veteran pusher, nobody can tell by just looking at a stuff if it’s cocaine or
not. The stuff would even have to be tasted first before it can be determined if
it’s indeed cocaine. Trillanes said Barrido SUPPOSEDLY ONLY SAW Duterte check
on and taste the stuff. So it’s both
RIDICULOUS and an IMPOSSIBILITY INSIDE AND OUT for Barrido to be able to
allegedly tell Trillanes’ camp with certainty that the supposed shipment was
cocaine.
Second: If
Barrido had indeed stumbled on a drug shipment, she would have called police or
any law enforcement officer RIGHT THERE AND THEN. And not WASTE TIME and EFFORT
in contacting Trillanes’ office instead, AFTER THE SUPPOSED INCIDENT. Even a
HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT KNOWS that senators DO NOT HAVE POLICE POWERS or anything
else to do with anti-illegal drug efforts. Assuming, JUST ASSUMING, that Barrido had
indeed seen a supposed drug shipment, she would have been KILLED by the syndicate
involved right away or as soon as possible. She would not have been alive to supposedly
inform Trillanes’ camp about it
If Trillanes is
innocent, then he should have NO PROBLEM doing and explaining all these
concerns. If he won’t, or would even hesitate, then he had better have an
air-tight explanation on why should anybody still believe anything he’ll say.
