A story in inquirer.net quotes
Vice-President Jejomar Binay as describing PNoy’s mother Cory as the icon of
democracy, in commemoration of her 5th death anniversary.
AN OUTRIGHT INSULT TO THE MARTYRS
OF DEMOCRACY, AND A NEVER-ENDING LIE TO THE FILIPINO PEOPLE.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say
it again, especially to the youth:
HISTORY WILL SHOW that Cory
openly fought the late President Ferdinand Marcos ONLY WHEN HER HUSBAND Ninoy
was murdered IN 1983.
But MORE THAN 10 YEARS before
Ninoy’s death,a lot of other people were OPENLY FIGHTING MARCOS. To name a few,
former Senators Jose ‘Pepe’ Diokno, Jovito Salonga, Francisco Soc’ Rodrigo and
Eva Estrada Kalaw; former Speaker Ramon Mitra Jr, and journalist Joe Burgos.
Plus the tens of thousands of
students who bravely held protest rallies against the Marcos regime.
Anybody correct me if I’m wrong but
in everything that these people did, Cory was NEVER REPORTTED as an ACTIVE
PARTICIPANT OR SUPPORTER. Neither did she denounce, on her own and in any
manner whatsoever, the former president.
So HOW CAN CORY BE AN ICON, or be
the icon, of Democracy?
And most of all, again as HISTORY
WILL SHOW IT, Cory WAS NOT THE ONE who called for ‘people power’ in 1986 which
led to the downfall of Marcos.
It was the late Jaime Cardinal
Sin, with the all-out support of the late June Keithley and the men and women
who joined her in broadcasting the unfolding events then from a radio station
which Marcos forces never found.
‘People power’ began ONLY WHEN
then Defense Minister Juan Ponce Enrile, the Reform the Armed Forces Movement
(RAM) led by then Army Col. Gringo Honasan and then Armed Forces Vice Chief of Staff
Fidel Ramos broke away From the Marcos Government.
And NOT BECAUSE OF CORY ALONE.
Cory DID NOT EVEN JOIN Enrile,
Honasan, Ramos and the millions of Filipinos who trooped to EDSA and risked
their lives during ‘people power.’
As we all know, NAGTAGO SI CORY
sa kumbento.
I just forgot the religious
order but Cory came out in public ONLY
WHEN it was crystal-clear that Marcos had lost.
So again, HOW CAN CORY BE AN ICON
OR THE ICON OF PHILIPPINE DEMOCRACY? Or the mother as some other fanatics of
the Aquinos insist on?
TIGILAN NAMAN NA NINYO ANG
PANLOLOKO SA TAUMBAYAN, LALO PA SA MGA KABATAAN na hindi na inabot ang ‘people
power.’ MAGTIRA NAMAN KAYO NG KAHIT KONTING KAHIHIYAN sa sarili ninyo.!30
